Muzica App
Disclaimer: This is a fictional project under the Google UX Design Certificate course.
Muzica is an app that helps connect users to wedding musicians. Muzica’s target customers are wedding organizers, both professionally and occasionally, and potentially musicians.
This project aims to simplify the entire hiring process of musicians for weddings.
Research
User Interview
I conducted user interviews within my connections to figure out who are the potential customers and what are problems they face while hiring musicians for wedding events, whereas 2 were single and 1 was married.
None of them have however personally hired wedding musicians before, and the married participant hired a wedding planner and the hiring of the musicians was done through her.
So, I gave them a hypothetical situation in which they will have to hire the wedding musicians personally. And they all started googling as they had no prior knowledge of the existing musician bands in town.
Findings:
3 out of 3 could not get the price information without giving their email or contact
2 out of 3 could not find the bands’ live previews
1 out of 3 were able to find the band for the music genre of their choice
Defining Problem
Pain points
From the research, the following pain points were identified:
1
Information
Clueless about where to look for the wedding musicians
2
Dark pattern
Unable to access key information without committing
3
Credibility
Lack of reviews and performance video samples
Persona
To better understand the target audience, I created a user persona.
Gigi
HR Manager
Singapore
One loyal friend is worth ten thousand relatives
Goals
Meticulously plan her friend’s wedding
Scouting the musician that suits her friend’s taste
Quick and easy access to musicians
Frustrations
Lack of prior knowledge on wedding bands
Lack of credible reviews
Busy professional
Problem statement
To set the direction for the design process, I developed a problem statement that outlines the user's pain points or needs:
Gigi is a busy professional who needs a quick and easy way to hire a wedding musician for her friend’s wedding because this is her first time hiring wedding musicians.
Solution Ideation
Muzica's competitors
A competitive analysis of the potential competitors of Muzica was conducted to gain awareness of what is already existing out there.
Storyboard
The storyboarding method was used to imagine and explore the user’s experience with Muzica.

Prototype
Design iteration
Afterwards, I iterated quickly between sketches, digital wireframes, low-fidelity prototypes, and user testing.
Insight 1: Clear navigation cues. The navigation cue to the first step wasn't clear for almost all the users.
Insight 2: Simpler layouts. The users found the contract signing and the payment process frustrating.
Insight 3: How-to-instruction. The users were not knowledgeable about the process and felt overwhelmed by it even before starting.
High-fidelity prototype
After the second user test with the first high-fidelity prototype, a few more minor adjustments were made and the final design was finalized.

Reflection
While I was designing the app, I learned that the journey of designing an app is several iterations of designing and getting feedback. I learned to take note of the feedback, analyse them, and integrate them into upgrades and reformation of the design
